Go-to movies for the last week of school

Nicole Dickinson, Written Content Editor

It’s the last week of school and you’re finally in the home stretch. At this point, you’re begging for summer and are praying that you aren’t assigned any more work. Your eyes light up when your teacher turns on the smartboard and opens up a movie. You might wonder why to even attend school if no work is being given. Either way, you’re glad that to you get to sit back and relax.

We all know Jackson-Reed teachers sadly don’t have the best taste in movies. Fortunately, I’ve provided suggestions for the funniest, engrossing, and maybe not-so-school appropriate films that’ll make you glad you did come for the last week.

The Hangover: Four men travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party. After an eventful night out, they wake up totally hungover of course,  and realize they lost their soon-to-be married friend. This movie is an excellent pick as I’m guessing showing up to school hungover is extremely relatable for most of you, and everyone has wondered at some point what it’s like to steal a tiger from Mike Tyson.

White Chicks: Want to take a detour to the early 2000s and watch an obsolete, politically incorrect, pinnacle of camp-yness movie? Perfect. This movie offends every demographic, so it’s actually not offensive to anyone. It has just the right amount of “what the heck” am I watching and will definitely be memorable, for better or worse…

Interstellar: Just like school, this movie is depressing and will leave you scarred. In a perfect combination of dystopian, sci-fi from outer space, and tragedy, it totals to just about 3 hours. If you enjoy watching people explore space, face near-death experiences, and realize the downsides of time travel, this will only take two full classes to finish!
