Supporting the Beacon, with however much money you are willing to, helps keep the Beacon up and running. It helps us to report on all of the news happening at Jackson-Reed and be an independent, student-run paper. We greatly appreciate any donations, as we couldn’t run the paper without support from readers like you!

Students get the paper for free at school, about 7 times a year. The Beacon offers online subscriptions to parents, family, and friends who can’t count on their student to bring it home. A subscription means guaranteed delivery of the paper to your email inbox on the day the paper comes out. Subscribers will also receive the Beacon Magazine, which is a collection of student art, poems, and other creative endeavors. You will receive the same PDF that the staff sends to the printer, so your “paper” will include every photograph, story, and design element the students receive, but you don’t have to come to school to get it.

Subscribing/Donating:

Beacon subscriptions are provided on a donation basis, which helps pay for printing and equipment costs, as well as allows us to pursue new projects. The school does not contribute, although the PTSO does, covering about 40% of the overall costs of the paper. The rest we must raise through subscribers.  The suggested donation is $35, but your contribution of any amount is greatly appreciated.

If you would like to receive the paper and magazine at a different or additional account (you may include up to 3 accounts on one subscription), please make a note within the donation. Senior Ads:

Additionally, at the end of every school year, we sell Senior Ads to go in our last edition of the year, which we hand out at graduation. These ads are our main source of revenue and a great way to celebrate your graduating senior. They will include a photo and message of your choice. They vary in price, starting at $25.
