Why, Wilson?

Even as students who have attended Wilson for four years, this school is still somewhat of a mystery to us. We’ve all had those moments where we’ve just stood there and wondered: “why, Wilson?” Each month, we will, to the best of our ability, try to get to the bottom of just that: why, Wilson? Why?

If you’ve ever been a part of an after school activity, you’re probably familiar with the policy that we’re not allowed back into school until 3:45. Why, Wilson?

Assistant Principal Gregory Bargeman says it’s to clear unsupervised students out of the building who might linger. “It’s actually for their safety,” he said. Hmm, still a bit confused. Why wait until 3:45 to let them back in? Why that specific time? It just doesn’t add up.

Even members of the administration don’t have knowledge of why this policy is there. “I’m not trying to be funny. I didn’t even know that was a policy,” Assistant Principal Julian Pineda said. Well, this is just the icing on the cake.

So this begs the question: why is a rule with no solid backing and lack of administrative knowledge being enforced? We all just want to get back into the building to do what we need to do. So why stop us? And just… why, Wilson?
