Baseball season finishes with championship

This past season, the Wilson baseball team established themselves as a local powerhouse, ending the season as the ninth-ranked team in the area by The Washington Post. A major reason for this success has been the coaching staff for the varsity team. For years, coaches such as Trey Polston have been developing talented teams to compete in the DCIAA and DCSAA championships.
This season, the Tigers won their 26th straight DCIAA title and beat St. Albans to win their first DCSAA championship. When asked about the biggest strength of the team, Polston simply said, “We have a lot of guys that don’t give up and play until the last out.” He praised his team for their work ethic and toughness no matter the conditions they are in. Polston also acknowledged his seniors this year for their leadership, stating, “The leadership this year isn’t necessarily better than last year but our seniors have led us to where we are at.” Polston values his players’ teamwork and drive through the whole season and feels that has been a big reason for their success
