Wilson athletes earn All-Met honors

Wilson athletes earn All-Met honors

The Washington Post honors the area’s top athletes in each sport for the fall, winter, and spring seasons. A First Team, Coach of the Year, sometimes a Second Team, and Honorable Mentions are named for each respective sport. In addition to Wilson’s exceptional year filled with team championships, the following Wilson athletes took home this prestigious individual honor.

First Team:

Sean Savoy (Football)

Kick returner/wide receiver/defensive back; junior

Big-play threat finished with 26 touchdowns, including two on kick returns, five interceptions on defense and 71 catches for 1,351 yards as a receiver (The Washington Post).

Kameron Holland (Baseball)

Catcher; senior

Hit .332 to play instrumental role in the Tigers capturing their 24th straight D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association championship (The Washington Post).

Sam Snedden (Boys Crew)

Senior

Strong leader was captain of the Tigers and served as the three-seat on the school’s varsity four, which took fourth place at Stotesbury (The Washington Post).

Coach of the Year:
Matt Grau (Boys Crew)

Under Grau, the Tigers put together a banner season as the only public school program in D.C. For the first time, three boats — the boys’ freshman eight, girls’ junior eight and boys’ senior four — qualified for Stotesbury Cup finals. Those same boats competed at SRAA nationals. Grau joined Wilson in 2013 and has helped spur a turnaround for the Northwest school (The Washington Post).
