Fall fashion flops!

Fall in DC is undoubtedly the most pleasant season thanks to the changing leaves and the crisp scent in the air. Once the season starts, shorts and tank tops are put away, and scarves and flannels make a comeback. But not this year. Let us give you some insight on things to watch out for this fall.

Section 1: Shoes

Sometimes mixing trends works perfectly, but unfortunately, the platform UGG slippers have missed the mark. Next time you see a pair, take a close look and you might realize they are in fact a person’s feet, and not a horse’s hove. This is not to say no to UGGs, we love UGGs, just be careful you aren’t purchasing the kind that takes you from 5ft. to 6ft.

Another popular shoe we are seeing is Birkenstocks. It is time for everyone to throw away their two-strap saddles and buy yourself a beautiful pair of overpriced clogs. Birkenstocks work just like UGGs and are like a lighter-weight version for the warmer fall days, but don’t forget to switch over when it gets cold, these airy shoes fail to keep your feet warm.

Last on this list is sneakers. And our take is… Nike is out. Taking its place are Adidas, New Balance, and Reebok, which have completely matched the fall vibe perfectly. Now if we are talking running shoes… still no Nike. Look into a pair of Hoka’s, or On Clouds, if you want something cute and supportive on your runs/walks.

Section 2: Pants

First things first, an overarching rule we need to put out there is “If your pants don’t fit, DON’T wear them”. Guys, we are done seeing your plaid underwear sticking out the top of your pants! Girls, the shoelace belt is not cute. If you’re in a conundrum and your pants are just slightly to lose, 5-minute crafts are there to help you! Lastly, ripped jeans and skinny jeans. Both are out (they have been out for a while) so let’s just move on and get a new pair of straight-leg, rippled jeans.

Section 3: Miscellaneous.

  • Fishnet tops (it’s not covering a damn thing)
  • Flannels
  • Yellow is OUT (No one needs to be spotted that easily)
