In the past couple of years, many restaurants have opened up in Tenleytown. With so many to choose from, it can be hard to decide where to go. To help you out, I have found three restaurants that are the best bang for your buck.

Seoul Spice
Korean food
Price Range: $3.50 – $9 (approx.)
Where: In between District Taco and Muncheez (4600 Wisconsin Ave NW)
The newly opened Korean restaurant Seoul Spice specializes in bibimbap bowls, Korean-style sushi burritos, tacos, and salad. At $8.49, you can get a bowl piled high with your choice of rice, grilled meat, up to eight vegetables, a sauce, and additional toppings. There are vegetarian options, including tofu braised in a sweet-and-salty kalbi marinade as well as salad. Vegetables and toppings come at no extra charge (except for eggs and avocado), so if you are hungry you can really get your money’s worth. The restaurant also offers “signature combinations” to make the choice easier. But a word of caution: if you don’t want your meat to drown in sauce ask the staff to serve it on the side rather than ladle it over the bowl.

District Taco
Mexican food
Price Range: $2.75- $8.50
Where: Next to Seoul Spice, Corner of Brandywine and Wisconsin Ave (4600A Wisconsin Ave NW)
Already popular with the Wilson community, District Taco serves a variety of Mexican food ranging from huevos rancheros to tacos. Customers can choose from a selection of toppings to add to their meal. One guaranteed way to fill yourself up is with a burrito. For $7.50, you get a generously sized burrito with black beans, rice, and your choice of toppings. Another bargain is the Kids Meal. For just $5 it includes a choice of a taco or cheese quesadilla, beans and rice or chips and a small drink (and you don’t have to be 12).

Chick-fil-A
Fast food
Price Range: $3.99- $9
Where: Between Starbucks and Panera Bread (4505 Wisconsin Ave NW)
Another Wilson favorite, Chick-fil-A offers a variety of sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast items. One good deal is the Chick-fil-A sandwich combo. $5.95 will buy a fried chicken sandwich (with pickles, in a toasted bun), a medium tea or soft drink, a choice of a medium Classic Side (waffle fries or a buttered potato), and a choice of a sauce (ketchup, Chick-fil-A sauce, etc.). Although Chick-fil-A is a little pricier than fast-food chains like McDonalds, the quality of the food is definitely better. I really like their Chick-fil-A sauce — the creamy and tangy sauce tastes great with waffle fries.
