Virginia Suardi, Magazine Executive Editor

Virginia Suardi is a senior and one of the magazine executive editors who feels very very blessed to be a Sagittarius (the best and most underrated sign!) She adores her guardian planet, Jupiter. She loves traveling, pretending she’s in a biopic about herself, and hyping up her friends (who are the baddest women alive.) At production you’ll likely find her eating entire bars of chocolate or completely zoning out (the only two things she has ever done in her life.) She is super lucky to work with such creative people on The Beacon!

Cultural barriers to veganism make the transition to a healthy lifestyle harder

Virginia Suardi, Magazine Executive Editor October 30, 2020

It was a late spring night, amid quarantine, when I finally told my dad that I was going vegan. I had been dreading doing it for a while, and as I expected, the reaction was far from enthusiastic. “Nooooo,”...

Halftime show steals the spotlight during 2020 Super Bowl

Virginia Suardi, Magazine Executive Editor March 7, 2020

Though the Kansas City Chiefs won the 2020 Super Bowl, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s dynamic halftime show, in my opinion, stole the night. As a music fan who is not very involved in sports, but has to...

The Right to be Forgotten will not soon be forgotten

Virginia Suardi and Ayomi Wolff December 9, 2019

How long is too long for information to remain online? Should past mistakes made by ordinary people be forever immortalized on the internet? This is the question the “Right To Be Forgotten” attempts...

‘Jitney’: fun in full wheel drive

Virginia Suardi and Ayomi Wolff October 14, 2019

Putt-putt-sputter. Your car gives one last cough of the exhaust then sinks into its tires, dead. You have someplace to be with no ride. Perhaps a jitney is in order?  “Jitney,” by August Wilson,...

Virginia Suardi, Magazine Executive Editor June 9, 2019

Anti-elitism, the opposition to policies, attitudes, or practices that favor the “socially superior,” is no new concept. It was key in electing Donald Trump in 2016, as one of his core promises was...

Adult women fail to uplift young women

Adult women fail to uplift young women

Virginia Suardi, Magazine Executive Editor May 5, 2019

As women, it is easy to blame men as the perpetrators of sexism. This is natural, as it’s easier to find everyday examples of men being misogynistic than women, and patriarchal society is the main cause...
