WilsonLive renamed TigerTVLive

Looking for a way to engage with Jackson-Reed Athletics? Want to gain experience with video or live production? Look no further than TigerTVLive! Jackson-Reed and JR affiliated games are now streamed live on YouTube to their 2500 plus subscribers.

TigerTV is in need of live announcers, camera operators, video and content editors, social media managers, and help with the website! If you want to get involved, visit the help desk in the atrium during lunch or before/after school. Engaging in TigerTV will give specific media experience that will help any student that is interested in content creation.

TigerTVLive, however, is far from the first name. Formally known as WilsonLive, the school name change to Jackson-Reed resulted in the renaming to AmbushTV and later to TigerTVLive.

Coach Thompson, who runs TigerTVLive, said that what they were looking for a name was a recognizable part of Jackson Reed– the tiger– but also something without the school’s name in it, to avoid confusion when streaming unofficial Jackson-Reed games (i.e. crew, girls lax).

He added that while options like TigerTV may seem cleaner, they are too generic and associated more with universities like LSU, whose mascot is also the tiger.

A big challenge they have faced through the name change is keeping their following while updating their brand. All graphics online have been changed, as well as the names on various social platforms. The goal is to stay recognizable while keeping the information current, and once again, they need your help to do so. Until then, subscribe to TigerTVLive on YouTube and follow them on other socials!
